Field + Supply Fall MRKT 2022 Round-Up

The changing leaves bring lots of exciting events to the upstate New York area, and arguably one of the biggest and most well-known is Field + Supply. Let's get into all the goodness of the market.

Hosted bi-annually in Kingston, on the riverside property of Hutton Brickyards (a beautiful hotel and spa), Field + Supply has made its name as a Modern Maker’s Market, a “contemporary interpretation of a traditional arts and crafts fair.” The show merges talented craftsmen and women with a focus on great design. It welcomes a highly curated array of vendors that fall into various categories and represents everything from handmade wood furniture to pet accessories, luxury clothing, natural skincare, and many more.

The market draws crowds from all over, but visitors usually come to the Hudson Valley for the weekend from NYC (turning it into a perfect excuse for an autumnal getaway); otherwise, the crowd seems to be upstaters who are traveling to Kingston for the day.

While walking around the market, my design-loving mind was in heaven. So after several loops around the show, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite eight makers in the home category below.

1. Perch Objects

Statement lighting can truly make or break a space, so naturally, Perch Objects was an important stop for me. Each of their lamps has a beautiful, carved wood base and is complemented with a subtle linen shade. I was particularly fond of the fun base shapes and pleated shade covers.

2. DBO Home

Unlike most makers specializing in one product category, DBO’s tent had a selection of pieces from kitchen decor to lighting to custom furniture. They had something pretty for everyone in the family, which made it an easy choice for anyone looking for a one-stop-shop solution.

3. Soil to Studio

This brand was my favorite discovery of the show. Soil to Studio offers an assortment of beautiful block-printed textile pieces in delightful modern patterns. The tablecloths are guaranteed to dress up even the simplest dining table, and I immediately added the Shabana quilt to my wishlist.

4. APPRVL

Megan Mussari, the talented artist behind APPRVL, can truly do it all by blending fashion and home furnishings. I couldn’t decide what I liked more: her chain-stitched bandanas or naturally dyed rope bags and baskets. I loved the idea of using a basket as a planter!

5. Bow Glass Works

Drinking from colorful, handmade works of art? Sign me up. Bow Glass Works had a gorgeous display of vessels of all shapes and sizes. I loved how delicately the colored glass was fused so that each cup had a subtle fluid pattern.

6. Christin Ripley Studio

Christin Ripley Studio is major design eye candy for my fellow marbled pattern fans. With just the right balance of subtle colors and prints, her pillows are available in various fun shapes and sizes. I’m dreaming of a custom upholstered bench cushion in her delightful fabrics!

7. Sawkille Co.

Sawkille Co. seems to be a mainstay at the past few Field + Supply shows for a good reason. The company specializes in wood furniture pieces treated like canvases and turned into intricate, quirky patterns and carvings. A clever sculptural addition to this season’s display: I enjoyed the carved houses they created with naturally shaped pieces of driftwood as the smoke stacks.

8. Tantuvi

There weren’t many rug companies at the show, so I was especially excited to discover Tantuvi. Each of their hand-woven rugs features a large-scale geometric design that would beautifully elevate any space. In addition, great quality natural materials offered in different colors and shapes add playfulness and a touch of color to interiors.

Other musings from the market

Did I mention dogs are also welcome at the show? A perfect way to spend a crisp fall day. I highly recommend saving the date and making the trip to Hutton Brickyards for a future market. Field + Supply moves to Charleston, South Carolina, for its first-ever Holiday Market iteration next, but will be back in Kingston, NY, in the spring of 2023.
