Just a short (under 3-hour) drive or a train ride away from the hustle and bustle of New York City, the Hudson Valley feels like the ultimate New York secret that you want to keep to yourself only to enjoy with your closest friends. We hate to spoil it for you, but the region is the furthest thing from a secret at this point. That doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy it, though! There's more than enough small businesses and local makers to go around for everyone.
Made up of 10 counties, the Hudson Valley is a treasure trove of incredible dining, gorgeous hotels, and the best shopping a design lover could ever imagine. There’s a little bit of something here for everyone — the foodie, nature lover, gallery hopper, designer (yes, even your picky in-laws visiting from out of town!). As a Hudson Valley-based company, we’re thrilled to share some of our favorite local spots that make this region so special.
A former 1920s movie theater, Rivertown Lodge is what Scandinavian dreams are made of (with a side of Wes Anderson-esque style). Pro-Tip: Catch an early-bird dinner at the Tavern downstairs for easy seating and delicious eats.
Upscale hotel in the heart of Hudson. The hotel’s design style flexes between 19th-century Industrial Design, La Belle Époque, Art Deco, and Mid-Century. The rooms are a splurge but don’t miss out on stopping by this gem even if you aren’t staying there.
Cozy, curated, and luxurious, Little Cat Lodge is a newer addition to the Hudson Valley. We love the lodge's design, but another big selling point is the location. It’s within walking distance of Catamount Resort for skiing, snowboarding, tubing, zip-lining, road cycling, mountain biking, golfing, hiking, you name it!
A specialty food market with a 10/10 chicken salad sandwich. Beyond their food menu, you can get specialty stock goods to bring home with you.
Enjoy small batch ciders—and a pantry full of local meats and cheeses–whilst sitting beneath the orchard trees. It's a bit off the beaten path and this is exactly why we love it.
A very stylish brewery nestled on a bucolic farm road, which makes it the perfect place to unwind. The thing we love the most, though, is the stunning aesthetic!
A coffee shop, wine bar, communal gathering place, and shop all in one. If you like nice things, then you’re going to really like Wylde. Get the iced matcha with almond milk.
Kitchen, bakery, and cafe with delicious homemade jams and extra flakey croissants. Stop by here on your way to Art Omi for some nourishment.
Beer, cheese, and sundries. What more do you need? They have a killer grilled cheese sandwich, which in our opinion, is the best way to wind down after a long day of sourcing or designing.
A modern take on a traditional arts and crafts market, bringing together unique vendors for an outdoor shopping experience twice a year in the spring and fall.
A huge environmental sculpture park by artist Harvey Fite. Pro-tip: Check out their events calendar (especially during the summer) when they have a constant stream of events happening.
The former home of painter and architect Frederic Church. The 250 acres of grounds are free to explore (highly recommend!). But the real treat is stepping inside the historic house museum—a unique mix of Victorian and Middle-Eastern design (tickets required).
The mecca of antiques in Hudson. Feels like a mirror room funhouse with over 40,000 square feet to roam around.
A treasure trove of antique furniture, home accessories, and more. A good mix of traditional, modern farmhouse, mid-century modern, and art deco pieces.
Handcrafted textiles and goods for the home. Queer-owned and ethically sourced. Perfect for a hostess or housewarming gift. Plus, Spoak members get a discount when they shop here!
A sweet European-inspired antique shop filled with delicate linens, dreamy farmhouse tables, and a back garden with pottery and bistro tables.
Curated antiques and other objects. Pidgin is located in the small hamlet of Oak Hill, which is a short drive from Hudson, and well worth the visit if you’re nearby.
A curated collection of home essentials from the folks at Upstate Down, a boutique real estate company. We're finding any excuse to head over to Rhinebeck and pick up goodies from this new shop.
