with
color
Color is one of the most influential elements of interior design—and if you’re asking us (which you’re not), it’s also one of the most fun to play with. Yes, even if you’re a minimalist.  You can use color to help tell a story, evoke certain emotions, or simply bring life into a space. In this course, you’ll learn about the color wheel, color theory, color psychology, and how you can use color to your advantage in design.
Designing with patterns & Textures
If the idea of incorporating patterns and textures into your design plans intimidates you, don’t worry. We totally get it. The good news is that with some education and practice, you’ll be running towards (instead of away from) vibrant prints and patterns in no time! This course will cover everything from the basics of understanding patterns, textiles, and fabrics to more complex doings like how to combine all of the above so it looks cohesive.

understanding design styles
If we’re being real, we’re not big on labels. When it comes to design styles, we don’t often cite them because they make us feel pigeonholed. But understanding the theory behind common design styles is a powerful tool for your interior design education. This course will cover the most common design styles and teach you best practices on how to combine different styles. Just know, like with all things, you’re never just one. And as usual, you should always feel good about breaking the rules!

planning your furniture scale and layout
Listen, we get it. Planning your furniture scale and layout at home might not sound as exciting as the sourcing and styling phase, but we promise it’s a very fun and (maybe the most) important part of the design process. Consider this course your introduction to all things spatial planning, furniture scale, and room layouts. It’s all the information you need to nail that yummy *just right* feeling in all the rooms you touch. Your interiors will thank you later.

Styling Tips
Picture this: You’re scrolling through Instagram or flipping through your favorite design magazine and see an image that just makes you think, “Ugh… this is perfect.” The design exudes personality, and everything feels like it’s exactly where it should be. That’s the power of interior styling. Behind each of those photos was likely an interior stylist doing their thing. The good news is that you don’t have to be a professional interior stylist to work your magic. You can use your home base as your styling playground, and this course will show you exactly how.

We’re not saying it’s all sunshine and rainbows… but it mostly is. With our helpful guide to mastering different DIY design projects and renovations, you’ll be on your way to a home filled with personality (and elbow grease) in no time.

An ever-evolving dictionary for anyone who wants to learn about furniture terms and interior design lingo. While this course is more of a glossary, we’ll define some of the most common furniture types, design terms, and more to help you become a more knowledgeable designer.

P.S. It would be impossible to cover every design word ever created in this class (or any class, to be honest). So if that’s what you came for, please lower your expectations (only slightly) and know this is a growing list. :)
