Pendants are single light fixtures (with one light bulb) and are usually placed above very specific areas within a home (kitchen islands, dining nooks, corridors, exteriors). Pendants provide a nice spotlight on whatever they are hung above, making them better for specific decorative lighting. Since pendants are hung from a chain, rod, or cord, the “drop” (or the length of the suspension) is an essential dimension when installing them at home.

Pro-Tip: Just like a chandelier, when hung above a table, the bottom of the pendant light should be 30"-36" above the top of the table.
