Sofa

A sofa is a long, upholstered seat, typically with arms and a back. Chances are it’s the comfiest piece of furniture in your living room (and if it isn’t, check out our recommendations below). Sofas are the focal point of the seating arrangements at home. They can come with or without legs, and can be modular (or sectional) to arrange based on need/space.

A sofa’s seat height is usually at 15"-18", and the depth of the entire sofa is usually 32"-39”. The term “sofa” is often used interchangeably with “couch,” and while the two are pretty similar, couches are considered to be more casual than sofas. Sofa is the all-encompassing terms for a big, happy family of seating options including the loveseat, the settee, and the chaise lounge.
