Gifts for the Party Host

Maybe we’re biased because we love to throw a good dinner party and have friends over, but buying gifts for the host in your life always feels like a treat. Browsing through beautiful selections of handmade tableware, delicate linens, and colorful candles always gives us the excitement we need to get through holiday shopping. If you fall short on ideas for the host in your life, you might find this gift guide useful. Don’t blame us if you end up adding one of these items to your personal shopping cart, though!

Here is our guide to gifts for the host in your life.

Opaque Ripple Cup Set by Sophie Lou Jacobsen via Berte - $60

Sophie Lou Jacobsen’s Ripple Cups are a favorite around here, but she recently launched an opaque version of the original design, and we are swooning! These cups are perfect for a glass of wine or elevating your drinking water experience. They come in a set of two, and you can select between Cornflower, Jade, Onyx, or Topaz colors.

Flowy Flower Clear Coaster Set by Galisfly via Urban Outfitters - $36

There’s no such thing as too many coasters when you’re the host of your friend group. We love this set of acrylic flower coasters by Galisfly. Imagine these paired underneath SLJ’s Ripple Cup. Dream combo.

Wooden Chess And Checkers by Sunnylife via Free People - $100

This colorful chess and checkers board is so pretty that it’s guaranteed to be a showstopper at your host’s house during game night. It easily doubles as a piece of decor due to its bright colors and playful design. This is a great gift for someone who loves design and appreciates a little friendly competition.

Leather Candle by Malin + Goetz - $58

A good host likes to keep their place smelling nice. We love when we go to a friend’s house, and they have a candle burning that we can’t get enough of. One candle in particular that we love is the Leather scent by Malin + Goetz. This scent is warm and inviting with hints of muted florals and deep rustic wood notes, perfect for cozy nights in.

Arty Parties by Julia Sherman via Barnes & Noble - $40

You may recognize Julia Sherman from the book Salad for President, but this time, Julia is showing the world how to apply an artist’s touch to home gatherings. Spoiler: The secret isn’t getting everything right but rather getting your hands dirty and having fun along the way. We could all learn a thing or two from this book.

Drizzle + Sizzle Combo Pack by Graza - $35

It’s hard to explain why Graza is so delicious and worth the hype, but in short… it just is! Drizzle is made for eating (not heating), so your host friend can think of this as a finishing oil on delicious salads. Sizzle is made for cooking, so they’ll have a new favorite olive oil to prepare all their meals. 10/10 combo for anyone who likes to prepare meals for their gatherings.

Cilindro Colored Glass Cruet by Ichendorf Milano via Food52 - $50

Speaking of olive oil, these colored glass cruets would be lovely to pair with an olive oil gift for your friends. Coming in four different colors, you can have fun choosing which color would suit your host friend best. We’ve got our eyes on the light pink one.

Dot Coupes by Maison Balzac via Coming Soon NY - $115

When we say our jaws dropped when we saw these incredible Dot Coupes by Maison Balzac, we aren’t kidding! These are the perfect combination of simple and extremely festive, and we think the host in your life would use them for every celebration.

Wine Rack by Christine Espinal for Lichen x Highly Recommended - $299

Possibly our favorite wine rack to date, this is such a fun contemporary spin on a standard wine rack. We love that it functions horizontally and vertically, so you can move it around in your space as needed. With a wine rack this good looking, your host will never need to hide their bottles again.

Primary Squiggle-Edge Linen Runner by Misette - $150

Squiggles and wavy design aren’t going anywhere, so embrace it and center an entire tablescape around this linen runner by Misette! You could also use this on a buffet table to display food to friends. It’s multifunctional and beautiful, like all good things in design.
