In honor of our recent Design Challenge with Homebody, we sat down with interior designer Hayley Gale to learn more about her winning design, what products she's loving lately, and more!
It's not every day that a Spoak member wins a free sofa—so when they do, we have to celebrate. Hayley Gale, recent winner of our Design Challenge with Homebody, knows a good piece when she sees one, and we couldn't be more excited that she got to take home a recliner from this ultra-cool new sofa brand. Scroll through to learn about Hayley!
As long as I can remember, I have loved interiors and architecture. As a kid, I constantly redecorated my room, accessorized my Barbie house, or built gravity-defying structures out of legos or blocks. This eventually led me to pursue structural engineering in college and grad school, but I have always returned to my passion for design. Now with my background in engineering and experience in the construction industry, I have a unique perspective on space, form, and what it takes to execute a successful project. I've had two apartments featured on Apartment Therapy, and since joining Spoak have had a creative outlet and learned so much more about the design process! I'm excited to see where my design journey takes me next.
I'm really inspired right now by Heidi Callier's interiors. She incorporates more vintage and traditional style elements into a modern, timeless space (and cozy!). I love how she layers pattern, color, and texture—which feels like the antidote to the all-white and beige style we've seen dominate interiors over the last few years.
My inspiration comes mostly from traveling and exploring. I love walking around my city, finding homes with interesting architecture, and perusing local furniture and consignment stores. When I travel, I always enjoy noticing how different cultures approach design and love to incorporate new elements.
Spending time with friends and family, and getting out in nature! I have a strong network of supportive people in my life, so I prioritize spending time with them. I also love being in nature, whether on a backpacking trip or just walking through the park. Time in nature is very centering, and I prioritize it daily.
I recently subscribed to Apartamento magazine, and I love their stories and the interiors they showcase! I get a lot of inspiration from reading about how different people approach design.
