Meet Rosa Rodas, Mitzi Design Challenge Winner

Our latest design challenge was the perfect way to bring a spark of inspiration amidst long summer days. We were so excited to team up with Mitzi again to celebrate their new collection with designer Tali Roth. The prompt was to design an organic modern space using at least two pieces from the collection, and we were lucky to have not only one but three winning Vizis! In first place, the Vizi designed by Spoak member Rosa Rodas makes us want to pull up a chair and enjoy this view while sipping on our favorite summer beverage.

Briefly tell us about your design journey.

I started my journey in design as a Water Feature Design Engineer, and I found myself spending a lot of time drawing the existing conditions (the architecture). The following work I did after that was as an Architectural Designer and Eco-friendly Furniture Designer. I absolutely fell in love with design when I moved to New York City and got to work on high-end projects. Through all of this experience designing the products I’ve found really interesting materials, the best methods for high-quality work, and how to reduce our carbon footprint through thoughtful design.

Where do you find your inspiration?

I find my inspiration anywhere and everywhere; sometimes it’s in the way light hits a structure, beautifully designed gardens, sometimes, even in clothing.

What's the best thing you've consumed recently?

Jungalow: Decorate Wild: The Life and Style Guide by Justina Blakeney.

What do you do on your time off to recharge creatively?

I either drive somewhere new or play outside with my son. Everything in nature is inspiring.

Tell us about a designer or artist you love. What about them and their work are you drawn to?

Roeqiya Fris, aka Roeqie. She’s an artist that creates colorful art that makes you smile.
