Introducing Options: Compare Product Choices in a Single Spoak Design

designed with spoak - watermark

If you’ve ever duplicated the same design three times just to test three different sofas, you know the quiet chaos of version overload. “Living room – v2 – final FINAL (for real this time)” doesn’t exactly make decision-making easier.

Options is here to calm that chaos.

Options is a new Spoak feature that lets you add multiple choices for the same product directly inside one design—then quickly toggle between them, share them, and even collect votes from people who don’t use Spoak at all. No extra files, no complicated setup, just one canvas where all your maybes can live together neatly.

What the Options tool does

Options is built for all those “this rug or that rug?” moments. Within a single Spoak design, you can:

  • Add multiple product options to the same spot. Try out different sofas, pendant lights, dining chairs, or art pieces without rebuilding your layout from scratch.
  • Toggle between options in seconds. Flip through each choice in place to see how it changes the feel of the room—no hunting through different project files.
  • Share for feedback and voting. Send a link so clients, collaborators, friends, or your social media followers can weigh in, even if they don’t have a Spoak account.
  • Keep everything organized in one design. Instead of juggling “Option A,” “Option B,” and “Option C” boards, you can keep your designs tidy and still explore as many alternatives as you like.
  • Use options as a decision-making tool. Move through choices in real time during a client call, or quickly gather a consensus before you hit “purchase” on anything big.

The goal is simple: all your ideas in one easy-to-navigate place, with just enough structure to help you decide.

Why we built Options

Design rarely happens in a straight line. You pin ten chairs, narrow to three, and end up torn between two that both feel “right” in different ways. That back-and-forth is where creativity lives—but it can also slow you down and create a mess of nearly identical files.

We built Options to:

  • Support real-world decision-making. Most rooms come together through comparison: this vs. that, light vs. dark, simple vs. bold. Options lets you compare those choices where they matter most—inside the actual room design, with everything else held constant.
  • Make collaboration easy and inclusive. Whether you’re working with a client, a partner, a roommate, or your Instagram audience, you can invite them into the decision without asking them to learn a new tool first. Their job is just to react and vote; your job is to keep designing.
  • Reduce version fatigue. By keeping variations in one place, Options helps you stay organized and confident, without giving up the freedom to explore.

As with everything we build at Spoak, we wanted this to feel intuitive from the first click: more power in your process, without more complexity in your workflow.

How Options work in Spoak

You can find a full walkthrough in our help guide here, but here’s the general flow so you know what to expect:

  • Open any Spoak design. Start with a room mockup, mood board, or layout you’re already working on.
  • Select the product you want to experiment with. Maybe it’s the sofa, the rug, or the main light fixture.
  • Add options to that product. Attach additional products as alternatives so they all sit in the same “slot” in your design.
  • Toggle between options. Switch from one choice to another to see how each one looks in context, right on your canvas.
  • Share for feedback. Send your Options view to clients, collaborators, or friends so they can review and vote on their favorites without needing a Spoak login.

Everything is designed to feel like a natural extension of your existing Spoak workspace—no extra dashboards, no separate comparison tool to learn. You’re still working in the same familiar place; you’re just giving yourself more room to explore.

Design moments to try with Options

Not sure where to start? Here are a few ways members might use Options in their projects:

  • Client-facing style paths
    • Present a “warm neutral,” “colorful,” and “moody” version of the same living room by swapping out just a few key pieces—like the rug, art, and accent chairs—inside one design.
  • Big-ticket decisions
    • Use Options to compare multiple sofa or bed choices in the exact same layout, so you can feel confident before committing to a major purchase.
  • Finish and material studies
    • Keep a single kitchen elevation and use Options to flip between hardware finishes, barstool styles, or pendant lights, then invite stakeholders to vote on what they like best.
  • Portfolio and social media polls
    • Turn your design process into a conversation: share Options externally and let followers vote on their favorite version of a room, then use the winning combo in your final design.
  • Internal studio review
    • If you work with a team, use Options to compare a handful of directions side by side in one place instead of passing around multiple files.

Like our other tools, Options is meant to encourage play: test ideas, compare them quickly, undo, refine, and land on the direction that feels the most “you” (or the most your client) without getting bogged down in file management.

What’s next

Options is another step toward making Spoak an all-in-one design playground where you can plan, explore, and decide—without needing separate, complex software just to compare a few chairs. We’ll keep evolving this feature based on how you use it, from the kinds of choices you’re comparing to how you like to gather feedback.
